Latest News - June 2009

2009 has so far been a busy year for the Tygers of Pan Tang and we thought we had a steady plan for the year but after receiving two phone calls we were thrown into absolute chaos once again with schedules, time-scales and more detailed planning meetings taking place. These two phone calls came from firstly The Chronicle Newspaper in Newcastle to record a Whitley Bay FC Wembley Celebration song (which is available now on free digi download or on the new Animal Instinct x 2) and secondly Angel Air Records expressing interest in releasing a deluxe version of "Animal Instinct". Both were opportunities that could not be missed so as always we agreed to the almost un-achievable projects and knuckle down getting on with the plan.

The Chronicle had left it late in contacting us but following some intervention from a music lover in the North East of England and friend of the Journalist involved, they made contact 3 weeks prior to the final. The bands association with Whitley Bay comes from the early years when the band were based there, lived there and never failed to promote the region in interviews etc. We immediately booked the recording studio and set about writing the song. Because of the tight time scale we thought about re-writing "Live for the Day" as this has become a live favourite and has that anthemic chorus changing the title to "Live for the Bay". We checked out the previous footie songs by other artists and thought this would be very different to them. The band wrote and recorded the song in a week and it was available for free downloading on Music Glue one week before the final at Wembley which we are pleased to say the Team won 2-0. New Music - Animal Instinct x2

Animal Instinct x2 The second call was from our old friend Peter at Angel Air Records who have released a couple of Tygers product in the past including "Visions from the Cathouse and "Live in the Roar" asking if we would be interested in releasing a deluxe version of Animal Instinct. After some serious negotiation we agreed as long as the deluxe package included some new songs, Some older classic songs re-recorded and a free DVD with some of our archived unseen footage from 2007/8. We did not want to give you just another standard version of Animal Instinct with slightly different Artwork but a whole New Package. With only four weeks to produce all parts to make this happen the guys did a great job by getting the recording of the bonus material recorded. We think we have produced a product that is great value for money for both those who have not already bought the album as well as those loyal fans who have. What also make this release special is that it is Angel Air Records 300th Release. The Tygers are back again to tight schedules and more pressure (we love it really).

Animal Instinct x 2 is a deluxe version of Animal instinct and I have to say we are very excited. We have slightly different artwork completed as you would expect, We have two new songs including something brand new (more later) & "Live for the Bay", 3 classic tracks re-recorded, the whole of Animal Instinct and nearly 2 hours of DVD footage recorded over the last two years. We will be releasing much more news about this over the next couple of weeks via an official press release on our sites and within the media.

Great New Merchandise Available

1980 Tee Merchandise News now - In the midst of night we raided Robbs collection of Tygers memorabilia and stole 2 tour shirts for re-production. These are original shirts from the 1980 UK Tour & 1982 British Tour so you get the original design that has been transferred by our supplier onto modern shirts. The 1980 shirt is quite special as it has been designed to immediately wash to a vintage feel, what this means is that the design after one wash will fade slightly giving it an authentic look and feel. (Please be aware of this before buying). The shirts are now available on the Webshop priced £20 + Posting and are a limited edition of 100 each design.

The Classic album Cover Designs have now completely sold out so we thought this would be the natural progression to move onto Tour Classics. We have some other ideas for the next line so watch out for more news to come.

We have received a lot of enquiries for Back & Beyond 2 so we came up with the following idea. To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Wildcat (2010) we are proposing the next Back & Beyond EP will include one new song and four/ five tracks re-worked from the Wildcat album. The EP will be titled Back2Beyond and we are looking for a release date of approx. December 2009. We will only be pressing 500 copies and will sell these via the Tyger force fanclub first then the webshop so make sure you are part of the Tyger Force by dropping us an email via the contact page on the website. We may do some pre-release sales and the guys will sign the covers for collectability but again watch out for updates.

Tour News

On the touring side we are playing as many countries as posssible this year with visits to Greece, Poland, Holland, Germany and we are now planning more dates in Italy for August and the UK for September/ October. There is also a possiblilty of more mainland European dates in October/ November. Please keep checking out the myspace & gig guide.

Other News

Animal Instinct

Animal Instinct continues to sell well around the world and is now widely available in the UK, Mainland Europe and Japan. We have a release date of 23rd September for the USA and this will be through our distributor Redeye. We are very excited with the initial interest in the USA and hope that all our fans who have found it difficult to find the album get their copies from Redeye, it is also comforting to know that you will not be paying high import charges etc. As the album continues to sell more and more countries are added and we are next looking at Australia and South America although we may have some new for Scandinavia too. If you have not got a copy and you are looking to buy one please stay away from eBay as there are a number of Bootleg versions on there that are inferior quality in terms of sound and artwork. always buy from a recognised reputable Retailer.

We are now looking at early 2009 for European Dates and we hope to be able to confirm shows in Italy, Greece, Netherlands, Austria and Scandinavia very soon. Our fan base is worldwide and we are determined non UK fans do not miss out on the Tygers. For all the 2008 UK and 2009 European dates the set list has been re-shaped and extended with some new songs from Animal Instinct added as well as some more classics. Please make sure you get your tickets and support the band live as it promises to be a great night of Classic Rock music.

Keep In Touch

We will be looking for Street Team Leaders in all countries to head up fan sites etc in your own countries to create that local buzz.
