We have been busy revamping our Myspace site for 2009 and you will see there is a lot more graphics and photos on there than ever before. We have also increased the songs on the player to 10 so there is loads of tunes to listen to whilst reading the blogs etc. We are closing in now on 100,000 hits to the site and with your help we will acheive this landmark figure within the next two months. Please visit the site whenever possible to increase the daily hits. We also want to hear from you as to what you want to see on both sites so if you have any suggestions then please contact us and we will see what we can do.
You will note we have added a couple more festivals for 2009 in the Uk and Poland and we are still hopefull of more appearnaces at some of Europes best metal gatherings. As for our intentions to get to Holland and Greece we are still hopefull but please bare with us. due to the worldwide credit slump some of the promoters we were talking to etc are been a little more cautious to bring bands over due to the high cost of touring so negotiations are taking much longer than expected. We are also looking for a suitable tour support slot this year for the UK as well as headline tour later in the year.
We still have some intention to release a Back & Beyond 2 through the fansite Tyger Force so if your not part of this then email us on the contact page and we will add you to the fan club for updates etc. We are considering Suzie Smiled, Gangland, Raised on Rock + 2 New tracks. We will get 500 printed so it will be another great addtion to your Tygers collectables.
We are looking at also re-producing some older tour shirts from 1980 & 1982 so watch out for these in the Tygers Web Shop. The classic shirts have now almost sold out, we have some odd sizes in Spellbound, Crazy Nights & Wildcat so please email us prior to ordering so we can check we have the size you are wanting. If you have not got a copy of the New album Animal Instinct then we are now selling this on the web shop too.
2009 will see the band heading off straight away to Italy to play four dates. The last time the band played Italy they had a great time and you guys proved you know how to Rock. The spirit and enthusiasm for the Tygers in Jacopos homeland is overwhelming and we hope you will all come out once again to have a great time. We have a fantastic Italian support band in Planet Hard, plus our old friends Blast Off in Verona just to get you into the mood for those early 80s classic NWOBHM tunes.
For our fans in Holland we are looking to get to you in late March early April. The venues are being booked now so we should know the dates very soon. We are also looking at some shows in Greece which seems to be a country we can never get to, because of cancellations but are determined to play for you guys this year. There will be other countries played in 2009 and if you want us to play your country let us know and we will do whatever we can to make it happen.
Looking Back at 2008 we would like to thank you all for your support throughout. We set out to achieve some milestones with a new album, playing live and generally getting the Tygers name back in the field of Classic British Hard Rock. It was hard work at times with some frustrations along the way but we made people aware the band was back. The response to the new album Animal Instinct was fantastic by both the music industry and you the fans and this inspired the band to keep trekking the long path of Rock n Roll. Having a new product opened a lot of doors which allowed us to play around the UK and ultimately Hard Rock Hell 2 (The Dragons Ball) in December which really was a day to remember. We played the second stage to a packed crowd and really got the message across that the Tygers were back roaring. We hope 2009 will start and continue as 2008 ended as we believe that we still have a lot of milage in promoting Animal Instinct to the many Rock fans across the world who have not heard the new material.
After a short break to catch our breath, we are now back up and running and ready to close the year off with some touring and further promotion of the new album Animal Instinct. Tour dates for the UK are now confirmed and listed on the gigs page. We expect another couple to be added and these will be listed as soon as we have confirmation.
For this tour we wanted to give you the fans something really special, we are aware of the current economic climate out there so if you are to choose a gig to go to we wanted this to be it. To give real value for money we have secured Steve Grimmett as special guest. For those of you not familiar with Steve's work he was the singer for Grim Reaper and Lionsheart. Following the success of his latest solo album Personal Crisis this was a fantastic opportunity to get another named artist on the bill.
The third band and tour support will be Crimes of Passion who are one of the best up and coming bands the UK has to offer, they have recently toured with White Lion across Europe so expect them to be one of the tightest bands around. We have looked at keeping the ticket prices as low as possible, however this will depend on the promoter/venue but expect them to be less than £10.00 each.
After such a hectic year, we were conscious it had been a bit quiet of late on the News front. We needed to take a breath and get ourselves ready for the next step forward. The planning element that goes into the bands future is key to its success and the break has given us time to agree the next two years strategy (in theory anyway).
The album has sold well and we are getting new and returning fans coming back every day. We get a number of emails via the website and Myspace site suprised that the band is still a going concern. The press reviews have been fantastic too, Geoff Barton of Classic Rock Magazine gave the album 8/10 and commented that if he only had enough money for one album between Def Leppard's "Welcome to the Sparkle Lounge", Whitesnake's "Good to be Bad" and Animal Instinct he would plump for Animal Instinct. Komodo Rock website gave the album a 9/10 and others have averaged 8/10. Links to the individual reviews are opposite.
We have some further release dates now for Japan 23rd July through our Japanese record label Avalon Marquee, and the USA on September 23rd through Cargo Records. There are still some countries in Europe that the album is not frely available, if you find you cannot get hold of Animal Instinct then check out Amazon Worldwide, HMV or Cargo Records all of which will post International.
We have added the Full version DVD of Live at Berlin Studios to the Webshop. Some of you bought the pre-order Animal Instinct that had the sampler included. The DVD comes with professional artwork similar to Animal Instinct and is the final chapter to the package. It is limited edition again of 150 and we have already sold half through the monthly mailshot. We also still have a quantity of the much sought after EP Back and Beyond available which is becoming a collectors item worldwide.
Although still yet to be fully arranged we plan to hit the road in October & November across the UK, along with some dates in Europe. In January we are returning to Italy, and then onto Scandanavia, Benelux etc. As soon as I have full Tour schedules confirmed we will advertise them on Myspace.
For our fans in the North East of England we will be holding a Christmas Party at Crook Town AFC in December at which the band will play some electric material and might do some songs that we do not necessarily play live anymore. Its going to be fun based with some audience participation. It will be a great relaxed night to get to know the Tygers on a social basis. I will update the site next month with full details.
Some new Festivals have been added including the 4Bs Festival at Pickering Showground on September 13th. This will be a two day event with some fantastic bands also included.
We are also delighted to have been invited to play at the Hard Rock Hell II event at Pontins Prestatyn. Hard Rock Hell was voted by Metal hammer as the festival of the year in 2007 and for those of you who made it you will know why. A great weekend with likeminded people partying and having a good time. Check out the link to the website for the last few remaining tickets.
Other news is that the Tygers will be playing the MetalRock Festival in Lillehammer Norway in August and the Monsters of Rock Festival in Malmoe, Sweden in September, we hope to see you there. Also Don't forget about Rock of Ages Festival UK in September which has to be the best value for money event this year. We can get evan cheaper tickets for you for this event so if you want tickets contact us via the website contact page, this is a limited offer so be quick. There should also be some more festival appearances confirmed very shortly.
The last three months has been the busiest time for the Tygers in a long, long time, there have been tour dates in both the UK and Italy, interviews, promotion and lastly the completion of the new album Animal Instinct. When an album is complete you always wonder how it is going to be received by the fans and media alike , with Animal Instinct we knew we had something special that you would immediately love. The pre-orders of the album have all been sent out and the feedback has been fantastic, there are already reviews appearing on the internet and we urge everybody to help spread the word through various hard rock websites and the music press that the Tygers are back, and firing on all cylinders.
The album will officially be available in the UK from May 19th and can be purchased via cargo as well as several other online resellers. The Album should also be available throughout the UK from HMV so if your local branch in not stocking the album demand that they do and let us know. The promotional activity is also now stepping up for the European releases which can be bought from some on-line CD shops now. The release dates may vary locally country to country so we will post the dates as we officially receive them. Finally on the Animal Instinct front we have agreed contracts with Avalon in Japan to release the album throughout Asia. This will include a remastered version of Rock and Roll man as an exclusive additional track.
During April we had the chance to hit the road to meet our great fans once again, which included a very memorable trip to Italy. As you are aware Jacopo Meille is a resident of Florence and a born and bred Italian, this really gives us a connection with our fans there who are not only Crazy Rockers but really carry a spirit like it was in 1980, we would like to thank all those who came to the shows, and those who brought their albums for signing and made us feel so welcome. We will be back in Italy hopefully before the end of the year.
Our return to the UK also gave us the opportunity to meet up with some old friends and convert some of our younger audience. We always get great feedback in the UK and we listen to this and try to take on board your comments. We think we are almost there with the live set content although there will be a couple of additions to add from the new album and maybe another older track added. We also listened to the musical direction you wanted which was a more Classic Hard Rock, this was music to our ears (sorry about the pun) because that was exactly what we wanted to produce. In the album sleeve notes, Robb dedicates the album to you the fans and this is because you have encouraged and supported the Tygers for so long and he wanted you to know that we could not have produced Animal Instinct without you.
The Tygers of Pan Tang are delighted to announce that we will be streaming a live webcast performance across the Web on Saturday 15th March. This performance will be absolutely free and will give everybody a chance to chat with the band via a webcam link and/or by email.
We have been very conscious over the last six months that we have a great fanbase worldwide who cannot see the band play live so we want you to experience an hour of the currrent Live Set. This will be a Live performance in a studio, and will be mixed before going out giving you all a great sound as well. Remember check out the date 14th March, keep it in your diaries and please get involved as we love to hear your feedback.
During 2007 the Tygers resurgence went from strength to strength and with the release of the 5 Track EP Back & Beyond the fans were able to get their first taste of the musical direction the band is pursuing. The feedback was fantastic and the back to roots hard rock was a real winner. The new website also went on-line at the same time and again the feedback was great, we aim to update this site the first week every month. The my-space site however is constantly updated, enabling real time news to be communicated and allowing fans and other businesses alike access to the Tygers.
The Limited Edition of Animal Instinct will be dispatched the second week of April 2008, and some latest news is that we are looking at including some DVD footage of the band live in Italy to enhance the package.
One of the first strategies agreed last year was to make sure we were accessible to listen to the fans and you will experience this at shows as well, where you will find the band hanging out at the merchandise stand or watching the support bands in the audience. Please come up and say hello as we really do value your opinions and comments.
In January the band will complete the recording of the new album "Animal Instinct" which will then go for mixing in February. Ben Matthews of Thunder who did such a superb job with the Back & Beyond EP will undertake this task once again. A Limited Collectors Edition with a 250 run is now available for pre-order on the website shop. This edition will be signed and numbered and include a VIP pass which will also be numbered as per your CD.
We will make a draw each month and give away guest passes and prizes. You will have a 1:10 chance to win which is pretty good odds. We will also add some other little items to make sure the package is complete. I would expect these to sell pretty quickly so place your order quick to avoid disappointment.
In April we will be visiting Italy for a short four date tour before returning back to the UK for more concert dates. Please refer to the Gigs page and Myspace site for more details on all shows.
In May we are confirmed for the Cliveaid Festival in Birmingham, this is a fantastic organisation and such a worthwhile cause.
We are also confirmed for the Rock of Ages Festival in September and are pursuing a number of other festival opportunities for the summer.
We are now actively seeking opportunities to tour throughout the world to promote the new album and would welcome any interest from perspective promoters and venues.
The band are delighted to announce that it is now signed to Cargo Records/ Livewire for the release and distribution of the new album Animal Instinct worldwide. We had a number of opportunities to explore but Cargo fitted our criteria perfectly with its knowledge and experience of the Hard Rock Market. It was also important that the company we chose, had the right infrastructure and worlwide partners to handle this release. We would like to thank Cargo for their commitment and enthusiasm to this project.
November will see a further EP release of Back & Beyond 2, again similar to the Back & Beyond EP it will consist of three classic songs re-worked and a further two brand new tracks added. It is very important as a band that we keep your interest and we intend to do just that.
It will be a busy year for the Tygers and with your support it will be very memorable.
