Aardschok Magazine, Holland - 'A New Heartbeat' Review by Metal Mike

In September 1982, guitarist John Sykes left Tygers Of Pan Tang to join Thin Lizzy. It marked the end of the Northern English band's heyday.

All the material released since then pales in comparison to the music that can be heard on the album 'Spellbound'.
Robb Weir, guitarist from the very beginning, has not given up and still tours with his Tygers and releases a new album every three to four years. The successor to 'Ritual' (2019} was written during the corona break.

The EP 'A New Heartbeat' is a taste of what is to come. The title track is a nice hard rock song with excellent vocals by Jack Meille, who has been behind the microphone with the tigers since 2004. Also, the Diamond Head-esque "Red Mist" is a nice listen, especially due to the smashing guitar work of Francesco Marras. It makes me look forward to the new album with hope.

With "Fireclown" and, "Killers" you also get two re-recorded tracks from the 1980 debut Wild Cat. Needless to say, the 2022 versions sound much better than the original versions. Meille sings a class better than the then frontman Jess Cox. Maybe it would be a nice idea to have him sing that entire album again.
