Classix Metal, Italy - 'A New Heartbeat' Review by Massimo Incerti Guidotti

Every now and then renewing an environment is good, and this also applies to the line-up of a historic band like Tygers Of Pan Tang, which opened the doors to a second Italian talent, guitarist Francesco Marras, and bassist Huw Holding (ex-Avenger and Blitzkrieg), although in this EP the bass is still in the hands of Gavin Gray. 'A New Heartbeat' contains a couple of fresh and vibrant unreleased tracks, and two tracks from the 'Wild Cat' debut rendered in a more modern take. The title track is catchy and intriguing, with beautiful vocals from Jack Meille and guitar embroidery to intertwine with Robb Weir's riffs. The old 'Fireclown', which is enriched with a short initial arpeggio, sees a more controlled and less punk Meille than Jess Cox. The new 'Red Mist', with a more modern guitar sound than usual, confirms Weir among the most underrated riffmakers on the scene, while the repechage of 'Killers' shows us that a good refresh is always good.
