What does a band do that welcomes two new musicians into their own ranks, but is currently unable to present them live to the fans? Right, they record a few new songs and introduce the guys that way. That's what happened with the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal legends Tygers Of Pan Tang, who just released a brand new EP. With two new songs and two new recordings of well-known songs from the debut album "Wild Cat". Guitarist Francesco Marras (Screaming Shadows) and bassist Huw Holding are new to the team. However, Gav Gray recorded the bass on this EP, so we'll have to be patient with Huw as far as his musical talent is concerned. But Francesco Marras already makes it clear here that he is a great musician and an ideal sidekick for veteran Robb Weir. So the Tygers bring us two new songs on their aptly titled new EP, A New Heartbeat. The first song, which is also the title song, starts with typical guitar riffs that you also know from the previous albums, and the Tygers Of Pan Tang immediately show that they are willing to continue where they left off with the last studio album "Ritual". . Jack Meille's fantastic solo and counter-vocals, which have now been established, have a lasting impact on the band in 2022. The melodic chorus is immediately catchy and the powerful drumming (Craig Ellis) ensures permanent New Wave Of British Heavy Power. “Red Mist” also takes a similar line, with even heavier riffs and twin guitar leads that show how well the two guitarists already harmonize. A true mid-tempo stomper with a good chorus and a really strong guitar solo.Two new songs that really get you in the mood for a new album, which will hopefully come soon. "Fireclown" and "Killers" from the "Wild Cat" album should be known to all friends of 80s Metal and especially the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, Tygers Of Pan Tang fans anyway. It's nice that the guitar sound of the 80's is imitated in the new guise and the contemporary production sensitively removes the old dust. "Fireclown" shines with fine bass lines and somewhat harder guitars. "Killers" is groovier with immense guitar power and some variety in the accompanying solo. Examples that show that the classics will also come across officially with a new band line-up. “A New Heartbeat” only gives us four songs and only two new ones. But shows the Tygers Of Pan Tang in impressive form and gives hope for a fantastic new album, which will certainly not be long in coming. We're already scratching our feet!!!
