FFM-Rock, Germany (Author: Michael Toscher) 9/10 - Live Blood Album Review

If there is a band that will bring the genuine 80s NWOBHM hard rock spirit straight from the roots to the fans on stage in such a faithful manner in 2024, it is TYGERS OF PAN TANG. A live experience as intensely rocking as TYGERS OF PAN TANG bring to the stage always makes you really want to rock - I've never seen the band really bad. What the five men Rob Weir/Francesco Marras/Jacopo Meille/Huw Holding/Craig Ellis bring to the stage deserves full praise, respect and recognition. The English present themselves with powerful bites and plenty of energy ready to jump
with Italian singer and guitarist in rows on this album double.

Old and new classics “Euthanasia”; “Keepin' Me Alive”, “A New Heartbeat”, “Edge of The World”, “Only The Brave”, - of course the furious finale with “Suzie Smiled”, “Love Potion No. 9", "Hellbound" are played with so much taste and full drive, with "Gangland" which is a must-have - Jacopo even calls it his personal favourite piece - when the long-drawn out scream "Gaaangggglaaand" follows, there is no stopping it - the fan crowd goes wild ! The same applies to the irresistibly galloping guitar groover “Insanity”. This makes it even clearer how exhilarating TYGERS OF PAN TANG live gigs can be, even 46 years after the band was founded. The TYGERS OF PAN TANG sharpen their sharp claws on “Live Blood”! Rob Weir is still there as the remaining founding member and forms a superb, always strong guitar duo with Francesco Marras. Lead singer Jacopo Meille delivers a bombshell performance with his flexible organ that pushes the fans and doesn't stop at intense high-frequency screams, which is perfect for the TYGERS, and Huw Holding/Craig Ellis complement the trio as a squeaky-clean rhythm section. Still questions? No.

This double expresses the massive energy of the Tygers Live On Stage in a massive way. Distributed on 2 CDs or double vinyl, the TYGERS have made a selection of songs that cover the band's history in a high quality and that will not disappoint any of their loyal fans. The choice is difficult. Here I prefer the 18-song vinyl LP version because of the three bonus tracks not included on CD over the CD release, which only contains 15 tracks, 'Wildcat' popular hits of the type "Insanity" and "Slave to Freedom" or "Blood Red Sky" from the self-titled 2016 'Tygers of Pan Tang' album are argument enough.

Conclusion: gripping live power from a formation that is one of the most consistent and fascinating bands in the NWOBHM sector, whose live gigs are always worthwhile wherever they go. Then a fervent - RRRoooaaarrr! 9/10
