Hard Rock 80, France - 'Majors And Minors' Review



In the collective memory of metalheads, Tygers of Pan Tang will always remain one of the best groups to have emerged from the mythical NWOBHM. We also remember their first 3 memorable albums and that a certain John Sykes skilfully posed his inspired scratching game. Unfortunately, like so many of their peers on this fertile English scene, the combo quickly lost its punch from 1983.

It was not until the early 2000s that the combo rose from its ashes with only Robb Weir remaining from the original line up. Unfortunately, despite quality stage performances and two albums of correct quality, the Tygers struggled to stabilize their line-up. It will be finally in 2004 with the arrival of their excellent Italian singer Jacopo Meile that the Tiger will recover.

Indeed, the transalpine brought a new breath to the band through already 4 magnificent albums of very high quality with it is true no waste. This new best of Majors & Minors proves it hands down. The group for about fifteen years has been offering a very melodic Heavy, varied as it should be. These 15 songs, precisely well chosen, amply demonstrate it. I will not do a detailed track listing; I invite you to read the corresponding reviews. Some bonuses are offered like the good mid-tempo "What You Say" typical of the band as well as a better arranged version of "Spoil of War". Finally, we will also find "Plug Me In" which has never been released on CD. It's big hard rock with a pretty bluesy riff that does the job well.

Those who have been following the band for the last 4 albums will not have an interest in acquiring this compilation, on the other hand anyone who wants to discover the recent material of the Tygers should go for it without hesitation.
