During the lockdown, Tygers Of Pan Tang, like many other bands, were unable to play live, but they did not remain idle for this. In the line-up was included as second guitarist Francesco Marras, who increases the tricolour quota in the British group, joining the singer Iacopo Meille; last year Weir and company released "Majors & Minors", a best of their most recent career years; they also worked on a new album, which is anticipated by this ep, titled "A New Heartbeat". The disc consists of four tracks, two of which are unreleased and two that revisit two songs taken from their first album, the historic "Wildcat" from 1980: in particular, they are "Fireclown" and "Killers", two songs that are not often performed live, but they remain among the most popular of the English band. Above all the latter is a powerful piece that makes us plunge back into the glorious years of NWOBHM, with its pressing riffs and its enthralling rhythms: the current line-up remains faithful and tied to the spirit of those times, reinterpreting both songs in a way really excellent. The ep opens however with the two unreleased, the title-track and "Red Mist": the first is another very beautiful song, which manages to be captivating from the very first listen; the second, on the other hand, is focused on good riffs, but on the whole it probably fails to be as convincing. In any case, we can consider the ep as a sort of presentation for the new guitarist, but also a succulent anticipation for the next full-length out: the premises are good enough, so in this respect we can be optimistic.
