Metalized Magazine, Denmark - 'Majors And Minors' Review

One of the pioneering British bands in the NWOBHM genre is Tygers of Pan Tang. They have been involved from the beginning in 1978 at the same time as Saxon, Diamond Head, Maiden and others. Tygers is a tough player and has proven it up through the 2000s with several approved metal albums. At the end of May, the album Majors & Minors will be released on Danish Mighty Music. As the title suggests, some are both big and lesser-known metal hits picked from their four most recent albums since 2008 featuring Animal Instinct, Ambush, Tygers of Pan Tang and Ritual. The band even selected 15 songs that they feel are new Tygers of Pan Tang classics. If you went and believed that Tygers was a forgotten 80s metal band, then you get a kick here. An 'ear opener' to check out the aforementioned new albums. Tygers plays with lots of metal balls, cool melodic riffs in long tracks, new strong hooks, heavy thumping rockers and all highly catchy, well sung, cool guitar solos in a nice sound. Tygers of Pan Tang plays convincingly and shows that NWOBHM is not an endangered genre. The album also saves on a couple of 'goodies' including "Plug Me In" that have not been released on CD before. "Spoils of War" and "What You Say" have not been on an album before either. The original guitarist Robb Weir is still there and the sound is intact - Pan Tang thank you!
