The format of Luppolo In Rock ensures that those performing in the afternoon have the sun squarely in their faces. Tygers of Pan Tang also undergo this initiation ceremony, but it's not enough to dampen the energy that emanates from the instruments from the very first notes of "Love Don't Stay." It's a real change of pace compared to their previous bands, excellent as they were. The chemistry between the band members is perfect, and while we had no doubts about it, Iacopo Meille's vocal performance is once again flawless and captivating. For his part, the "old guard" of the band, guitarist Robb Weir, is once again a charismatic leader, present but never overbearing. The setlist also ranges widely and evenly between recent songs and classics, such as "Suzie Smiled" and "Spellbound." Tygers are a band that, despite the passing years, manages to always sound current, and that's no small achievement.
