The English Tygers Of Pan Tang is seen as an important exponent of the legendary NWOBHM. Based on their first 2 albums, that is certainly the case; 'Wild Cat' and 'Spellbound' may be several decades old, but they are simply timeless and should not be missing from any collection. The fact that the band is still musically active may be called a small miracle, but the only remaining original member Rob Weir has managed to deliver simply excellent work with the last 4 albums. The last 'Bloodlines' from 2023 in particular is a major hit. (see Alex's review on this site).

With that very well-rehearsed line up, a real cracker of a live album was recorded at The Patriot in Wales. The album sounds truly fantastic and offers a nice mix of old and new work that flows seamlessly into each other. Lead singer Jack Meille masters both the old and new work and his voice fits perfectly with the wonderfully solid hard rock that always has a melodic edge and borders on metal in the faster parts. The band sounds super tight, the flashy sometimes screeching solos complete it and the energy radiates from the vinyl. Yes, vinyl, because this kind of music belongs there.
The classics fly around your ears in unmistakable words.

Album opener of the debut Wild Cat 'Euthanasia' kicks off in an unparalleled way, after which you can thoroughly enjoy classics such as 'Gangland', 'Love Don't Stay', my personal favourite 'Slave To Freedom', 'Hellbound', the cover/ hit 'Love Potion no. 9' and of course 'Suzi Smiled' Among all those classics are the newer, nice and heavy songs such as 'Back For Good', 'Edge Of The World' and 'Fire On The Horizon' are certainly not out of place, in fact they provide an optimal set from a band in top form.

No fewer than nineteen songs are featured on a thoroughly rock album that does not lack the live atmosphere but is above all blessed with a superior sound.

'Live Blood' is probably Tygers Of Pan Tang's best album. It offers a perfect historical overview and you can fully enjoy a band in top form.

If you don't have anything from this band at home, then this is your chance. And while the cover of predecessor 'Bloodlines' was already very beautiful, this one even surpasses it and looks really lifelike. Immediately order an extra copy for the wall, really fantastic, just like the album.
