Obliveon, Germany (Author: Mario Wolski) - Live Blood Album Review

Unfortunately, I discovered it late. But they made a very impressive impression. The highlight of the love so far was the Iron Fest 2023. It was already the last evening. There had already been a hell of a lot of highlights beforehand, starting with the ladies of Vulvarine, and shortly before that it was the turn of the Codex. I watched him from the sidelines. I wanted to save fuel for the Tygers, and I also didn't find the Bavarian epics as exciting as I wanted. I actually suspected that for many of the local Warriors, the last band wasn't that exciting anymore. I thought wrong. I secured a spot right in front of the stage early enough because it suddenly became packed. It was really party time. The ladies of Vulvarine, for example, flew over the people seemingly constantly and incessantly. And everyone, from hard rockers to thrash fanatics, celebrated to the rhythm of the music and in sync with their hearts. Can a live album really reflect that? Of course, part of the mood and atmosphere can be captured. The listener can, at least in the best case scenario, experience a lot of the energy, the power. If everything goes well and is captured properly, you can also enjoy the audience's reaction. Live albums can reflect a complete concert. Or they are compiled from parts of several performances. Without wanting to discuss it further, both have their pros and cons. Word should have spread widely. Also due to the appearance at Iron Fest, the current line-up of TYGERS around singer Jack Meille and bassist Robb Weir is beyond all doubt. It's not just competent music making. There is a lot of energy and joy in playing here. Just as the last albums were convincing, the Tigers do it even more on stage. That's why it was so tight in front of the stage at Ohmbachsee back then. 'Even though "Live Blood" wasn't recorded there, the nineteen tracks come from The Patriot in Newport, Wales, I can relive that evening here. Of course, this still doesn't replace the real experience. But “Live Blood” succeeds: when I close my eyes, I have the barrier right in front of me, the stage in front of me, the musicians in view. And the tiger lurks in the background, ready to pounce.
