This NWOBHM group, created in
1978, currently counts in its
line-up one of the founding
members, the guitarist Robb Weir
and has accompanied it since
2000, the drummer Craig Ellis
and since 2004, the singer Jack
Meille. Guitarist Francesco
Marras arrived in 2020 and
bassist Huw Holding in 2021.
Here is the line-up for this
sixth live album from the group,
which includes, in addition to a
multitude of singles, EPs and
compilations, thirteen studio
albums, which is not nothing,
between 1980 and 2023, the
latest “Bloodlines” being
released in May 2023 with the
same musicians.
Not counting the intro, the 18
tracks of this live come from
eight albums, the five albums
from 1985 to 2008 not having any
title selected for the occasion.
We will find four tracks from
“Wild Cat” the first album from
1980 but also from “Bloodlines”
the latest, released in May
2023. Three tracks come from
“Crazy Nights” released in 1981,
two from “Spellbound” from 1981
and “Tygers Of Pan Tang” from
2016. A track will be taken from
three other albums, “The Cage”
from 1982, “Ambush” from 2012
and “Ritual” from 2019.
The concert was recorded during
the summer of 2003 at The
Patriot venue in Wales. We are
sailing with titles ranging from
1980 to 1982 and from 2012 to
2023 and the mixture of these
two eras is a great success
because everything comes
together particularly well.
Follow each other, for example
“Euthanasia” from 1982 and
“Keeping Me Alive” from 2012,
but also “Gangland” from 1981
and “Edge Of The World” from
2023, all in the effectiveness
of the riffs, the melody and the
permanent dynamism. A singer
with a warm voice and great
power, a top rhythm section
carried by an old and a new
musician and guitarists, again a
new one and the founder of the
group, both excellent. We feel
the cohesion and the joy of
playing and the very good sound
delivered amplifies this
feeling.
And when “Hellbound” and “Love
Potion N°9” come together, we
find an increased passion in
this Heavy from the 80s which,
today, is even more magnified!!!
“Live Blood”, with its furious
and flamboyant illustration, is
an excellent live album from
TYGERS OF PAN TANG, which Heavy
fans will fully appreciate and
which is unthinkable to miss.
That would be a mistake, because
everything is exciting here.
