The second spring continues!
It is by no means an
exaggeration to claim that the
NWoBHM legends TYGERS OF PAN
TANG have been experiencing
their proverbial "second spring"
for quite some time. By the way,
it has lasted for a good decade
now and, as it looks, is going
so fast It probably won't end
either, after all, the troupe
founded in 1978 is releasing
another awesome album these days
with "Bloodlines".
In principle, this picks up
exactly where the formation,
directed by guitarist Robb Weir
for many years, left off with
"Ritual", but still reveals fine
innovations and improvements. A
high percentage of these are
apparently accounted for by the
"Legionnaires" in the service of
the British institution, because
even if it was not foreseeable
almost twenty years ago, it can
be said in 2023 that the entry
of singer Iacopo Meille was
extremely important for the Band
itself, and further career
progression was.
Since the singer from Florence
has always felt comfortable in
classic hard rock, he has been
able to integrate his timbre
more and more into the band's
sound since he joined the band,
or more precisely since the 2008
album "Animal Instinct". It's
quite possible that Iacopo was
even able to gain a little more
self-confidence with the
addition of his new colleague
Francesco Marras on the second
guitar, after all the line-up
now contains two Italian
musicians.
In any case, it is certain that
the string stretcher, who is
also active in SCREAMING
SHADOWS, has made a not
inconsiderable contribution to
the fact that the band's current
tracks are not only easy on the
ear, but also immediately set in
the long-term memory. While the
bridging the
TYGERS OF PAN TANG has been
performing for several years,
from the originally presented,
typically British metal sound,
to a casually presented melange
of hard rock and heavy metal in
a rousing way, the quintet
didn't always sound as
compelling as on "Bloodlines".
One could not have foreseen that
Francesco and Robb would
immediately become a functioning
songwriting team, but Robb's
intuition seems to have been
correct. Because in retrospect
it can be stated that a "pot"
has found its "lid" here. A
mandatory firecracker.
Opener 'Edge Of The World',
surprisingly equipped with a
defiant vibe of European melodic
metal "Fire On The Horizon', or
'A New Heartbeat', which was
released as an EP last year and
was far more than just an
appetizer, count among the
finest of the substantial body
of work of this formation, which
is not exactly short of
highlights anyway!
