Rock Hard Italy, Italy (Author: Stefano Cerati) - Animal Instinct 2024 Album Review

2008 was a crucial year for the historic English band that was at a crossroads, whether to continue or split up. The founder and only remaining original member Robb Weir called an Italian singer for an audition. Thus, like a fairy tale, begins the story of Jack Meille with a legend of the NWOBHM (Cry Sweet Freedom) that he proceeds to revitalize and guide towards a more refined style, hard rock powerful, warm and inspired that in the vocal melodies certainly owes something to Led Zeppelin and Whitesnake (Rock Candy, Live for the Day). The album brought the band's stock back up, however there was always something in that original version that bothered them: the cover. They thought it didn't do the band justice. Then Andy Pilkington, responsible for the covers of the last two Tygers albums, comes into play. He is asked to create a new artwork that marries well with the quality seen in the other Tygers album covers. They also felt that the sound required a new mix and enlisted the services of trusted friend and producer Marco Angioni to add the necessary polish to an album that already sounded good. A bonus track, Don't Say Rock & Roll is Gonna Die was eventually added to the reissue.
