In recent years and the arrival
of singer Jacopo Mielle on the
album Animal Instinct (2008),
Tygers Of Pan Tang has regained
all its bite, which has resulted
in high quality albums. Majors &
Minors is therefore keen to
return to this period in order
to offer the best pieces of the
group released in fifteen years,
as well as an alternative
version and two unreleased ones.
From this renewal album, only
two tracks have been preserved:
the fast “Let It Burn” which
heralded a better future and the
groovy “Hot Blooded” with a very
Australian riff. From Ambush
(2012), two tracks were also
chosen: the Hispanic mid-tempo
"She" which offers a beautiful
melodic range and the heavy
"Keeping Me Alive" with an
effective riff. Understandably,
the emphasis was instead on the
next two albums, much better and
more consistent.
The album opens with the
excellent "Only The Brave", from
Tygers Of Pan Tang (2016) which
opens hostilities in the best
possible way. The listener is
immediately carried away by the
swirling riffs that herald the
singing of Jacopo Meille, one of
the most prominent singers on
the circuit.
From this same album are offered
three other titles. First of all
the fast "Never Give In" whose
guitar sound takes us back to
the New Wave Of British Heavy
Metal period, but also the
groovy "Glad Rags" which makes
you want to tap your foot, as
well as the dark "The Devil You
Know ”which brought up the rear
on the original album.
The latest studio album, Ritual
(2019), is also in the game,
with five tracks, including
"Spoils Of War" which benefits
from orchestration, which gives
it a new depth.
Also, present is the speed
"Worlds Apart" which opened the
hostilities in a very nice way,
with its swirling riff and its
melodic refrain. "Destiny" plays
on a beautiful osmosis between
vocal melodies and controlled
riffs, in order to offer us a
superb mid-tempo with a
chiselled chorus that never lets
us go, while the former single
"White Lines" appears as a
superb calling card ,
representative of this success.
As for “Damn You! Is a little
heavy metal bombshell that
reminds us of the Spellbound
era. As a bonus gift, “What You
Say” which appeared on the B
side of the single “Only The
Brave” and “Plug Me In”, on the
B side of “Never Give In”. The
first is a song with a bouncy
riff and the second, a quick
little bitterness, full of
groove, with an effective
chorus. Two good titles that it
would have been a shame to
almost ignore.
Majors & Minors is a nice digest
of the new Tygers Of Pan Tang
whose return to the front of the
stage is a real success, as can
be seen from its superb
performances in concert.
